5 countries offered OntheJobTraining by the Regional Office


NAIROBI - In its quest to strengthen the capacities of National Scout Organizations (NSOs), five participants from, Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Swaziland participated in a month long training, from 27th September to 27th October 2011 in Nairobi, at the Regional Office.
The aim of the OJT (On-the-Job-Training) was to equip the participants with necessary skills for running NSO offices while giving them an opportunity to experience how the Africa Regional Office is run. The training was conducted through presentations, field studies, and attachments to various departments, class work and personal projects.

The beneficiary countries we selected based on the needs assessment that was carried out among the NSOs by the Regional Office with regards to key issues such as NSO management, event management, finance and administration, communication and partnerships.
 
Apart from the pelatihan, the participants had the opportunity to interact with the Regional Office staff and visit the grave of the Founder, Lord Baden Pawell in Nyeri. They also visited Embu Scout Training Centre as well as the Kenya Scout Shop in Nairobi.

 To conclude the OJT, the participants were tasked to make strategies aimed at improving their NSOs on the basis of the competencies they had acquired.
The pembinaan coordinator, Mr. Mostaff Matesanwa, the Unit Manager, Adult Resources and Training , said the OJT was successful and rencana for the next training is already underway and is tentatively slotted for February next year.
The Africa Regional Office hosts the On the Job Training (OJT) once a year. A capacity building training for NSOs in the Africa Region based on the NSOs needs. This is considered as an opportunity for earning and for cultural exchange.
