To equip key leaders on the important aspects of Messengers of Peace (MoP) project, including its network and funds, a 3-day orientation meeting began on 4th December at the Cibubur Scout Camp, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The meeting also attempts to help project managers or coordinators design peace projects which will make positive impact to the community.
Since the launch in September in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, invitation has been extended to all National Scouts Organizations to appoint their MoP Coordinator, to encourage their members to join the MoP online network, and to submit project proposals.
Facilitating the orientation is Gerakan Pramuka Chairman and Regional Scout Committee member Dr Azrul Azwar, having over 20 leaders, mostly board members and commissioners. Assisting Azwar is Director on Development Support and Finance S Prassanna Shrivastava from APR office.
Countries from the Asia-Pacific that have either launched or completed their MoP pilot projects are Sri Lanka that had 5 integration camps, India and Pakistan that just finished the first cycle and Indonesia which is currently undertaking the health awareness program in Beji Village located in Depok, West Java which will eventually become nationwide.
