GOSM implementation of the World Scout Environmental Programme

Since June, 2010 NSO of Georgia has been successfully implementing the World Scout Environmental Programme in the framework of the Youth Capacity Building Project at Western Route Export Pipelines (YCBP) initiated and funded by BP.
One of the core approaches adopted by the acara is targeting youth 13-16 years of age and equipping them with the necessary leadership skills, life skills, basic understanding of the key personal development needs and supporting their understanding of basics of the entrepreneurship.
Scouts of Georgia have established the Youth Groups in 44 target schools of 15 different districts of Georgia. More than 1000 students have already joined the groups and took a great interest in implementing the World Scout Environmental Programme activities.
In order to facilitate the process, NSO of Georgia has translated the WSEP into Georgian, trained 2 students from each school in leadership and introduced them with WSEP.
As a result, more than 300 small scale environmental activities described in the WSEP toolkit have already been implemented by the youth groups. Active members of the groups, who leaded the activities, have got the T-shirts with the WSEP logo printed on it.
