JOTAJOTI 2011
The 54th Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) and the 15th Jamboree On The Internet (JOTI) are just one month away now. The 15th and 16th October will be two very special days when Scouts and Guides across the world can talk to each other from an Amateur Radio Station and/or using Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
The theme of the event this year is "Peace, Environment and Natural Disasters".
Some educational activities have been prepared with the aim of helping participants to think, discuss and act on these issues. JOTA-JOTI is also always an opportunity to discover and experience new projects and new programmes, communicate with new partners and make new friends.
Follow these links to read more the full range of educational activities being proposed:
- Peace / Messengers of Peace
- Environment / World Scout Environment Programme
- Natural Disaster / ShelterBox
You should start by registering your Station at jotajoti.org as soon as possible in order to reserve your nickname for the duration of the event and to indicate your location.
JOTA Stations which register before 10th October will be included on the official JOTA 2011 call sign list. This is a useful resource to look up information on the stations you hear about. The information can also be downloaded into a logbook application.
As the number of participants continues to increase by around 15% every year, we have created a new JOTA-JOTI for Newbies guide to help first-time participants get the most out of the event. It explains in a very short, simple and didactic manner what JOTA-JOTI is about and how, step by step, you can participate.
New for 2011: register your class’s webcam on //www.joti.tv and broadcast to the world from your local JOTA-JOTI station! On the same site, you will be able to view a changing mosaic of 25 random webcam images from the registered stations.
You can order the special JOTA-JOTI 2011 event badge from the World Scout Shop. It is recommended that you organize your orders in large quantities rather than ordering single items at a time, as the shipping costs will be the same whether you order 1 badge or 1000 badges.
