Nepal Prime Minister cites role of Scouting in nationbuilding

Wearing the Scout uniform as Patron, Nepali Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai pointed out that honesty and discipline are important elements in nation building that Scouting embodies in its principles. He added that Scouts are largely contributing in the process of peacekeeping and even writing the new Constitution. During his term, he vows that the government will financially extend its support to Nepal Scouts for the improvement of activities offered to young people.
The statement is made during his investiture as Patron of Nepal Scouts in a simple ceremony on 26th November 2011, at the Prime Minister residence in Baluwatar, north-east of Kathmandu.
Also in the ceremony, the Prime Minister received the report from Chief Commissioner Mr Shree Ram Lamichhane on Nepal Scouts’ activities, achievements and future plans and individually met the National Executive Committee members.
Prior to this, Nepal Scouts had its National Executive Committee Board Meeting in Kathmandu, having the Chief Scout and Minister of Youth and Sports Ms Kamala Roka as its special guest.
